FAQ

Questions, answered.

Everything we get asked about the tech scene in Alicante, Elche, Torrevieja, Benidorm and the rest of the Costa Blanca — community, geography, events, and how to get involved across the province.

Alicante Tech Vibes is the city's largest independent meetup for founders and builders. We host quarterly events with startup demos, open-mic pitches and structured networking. Beyond our events, the WhatsApp community is active daily — introductions, job posts, co-founder searches, customer leads. Other places that work: coworking spaces like Wayco and Utopicus, the Distrito Digital ecosystem, and founder dinners hosted in the WhatsApp group.
Roughly 40% of our community are working software engineers — from indie hackers shipping side projects to senior ICs at remote-first companies like Stripe, Datadog and Shopify. The fastest path: join the WhatsApp group, introduce yourself with what you're working on, then come to the next meetup. No CV-shopping, no recruiters, just real conversations between people who ship.
Alicante's tech community has grown sharply since 2023, driven by Spain's Digital Nomad Visa and the Beckham Law tax regime. Our meetup alone has 120+ active members across 14 nationalities. Add the broader Costa Blanca scene — Valencia, Murcia, the Benidorm coworking spaces, the Torrevieja remote-work crowd — and you're looking at thousands of remote workers and founders within a 90-minute drive.
Alicante Tech Vibes spans the full Costa Blanca with active members in Alicante (capital, ~382K), Elche / Elx (~230K), Torrevieja (~100K), Orihuela (~86K), Benidorm (~72K), Alcoy / Alcoi (~61K), Elda (~55K), San Vicente del Raspeig (~53K), Dénia (~44K), Villajoyosa (~36K) and Altea (~24K). Every city is within a ~90-minute drive of the meetup venue in Alicante. See the full breakdown on the community page.
Yes — that's the norm. Roughly half our regulars commute in. Elche is 25 min by car or train, Torrevieja 45 min, Benidorm 50 min via the AP-7 motorway, Dénia and Altea about 1 h. The TRAM Metropolitano connects Alicante directly with Benidorm, Villajoyosa and Altea. Carpools form on the WhatsApp before each edition — drop your location and someone will offer a ride or a return.
Yes. Alcoy has a strong industrial and engineering base with inland builders. Elda hosts founders from the manufacturing and footwear-tech world. Orihuela's vast municipality — from inland cathedrals to coastal golf resorts — sends both founders and remote workers. Members in these cities organize informal coffee meetups between editions, all coordinated in the WhatsApp.
After our informal kickoff event in March 2026, the first official edition (#01) is at Sausalito Premium Club, Mlle. Levante 6 — 03001 Alicante. It's right on the marina, walking distance from Alicante's main RENFE station and from the TRAM Metropolitano stop, with an open-air terrace overlooking the port. Future editions rotate through other Costa Blanca venues, announced on Meetup and in the WhatsApp.
Three concrete steps. (1) Apply to demo at our next edition — 5 minutes in front of 80+ founders, builders and angels. (2) Post in the WhatsApp community — hires, beta testers, customer intros happen weekly. (3) Use Alicante's lower burn rate to extend runway: cost of living is roughly half of Madrid or Barcelona, with the same EU talent access and a Digital Nomad Visa pipeline for international hires.
Yes, free, and no. We welcome anyone curious about tech in Alicante — founders, employees, students, designers, investors, journalists, and people considering the move. The only rule: come with curiosity and leave with one new connection.
Both. Demos and the open mic are typically in English (it's the working language for most of our international members), but the hallway track and networking happen in whatever language you and the person you're talking to share. Spanish, English, Catalan, Italian, French — all welcome.
Quarterly main editions, plus smaller pop-up events (coworking days, founder dinners, beach runs) announced in the WhatsApp group. Subscribe to the Meetup page to get notified about main editions.
Join the WhatsApp group today, introduce yourself with a one-liner about what you're building, and ask any logistics questions (neighborhoods, coworking, schools, NIE process). The community is generous with intros and on-the-ground advice.
Spain's DNV is a 12-month renewable visa (up to 5 years) for remote workers earning income from outside Spain. Family included. Combined with the Beckham Law (24% flat tax for 6 years on Spanish income), it's one of the most attractive setups for tech workers in Europe. Members in the WhatsApp regularly share their applications and gestor recommendations.
Yes. We work with a small number of community-aligned sponsors per edition (venue, food, drinks, demos prizes). See our sponsors page for what's involved.
